Hello! My name is Kayleigh and I create maximalist jewellery in my home studio in the beautiful seaside town of Tramore, Co. Waterford - living alongside my boyfriend Michael, two gorgeous doggos, Nuala & Oscar & a grumpy cat named Hank.
I studied Social Care in college but emigrated to Australia in 2010 when the recession hit. I worked mainly in administration (my first job was in Fosters!!). I was hugely inspired by my cultural experiences and vast opportunities I had in Australia.
When I returned to Ireland I decided to take the leap. I got a job in the Civil Service so that I could save & support my first steps into the jewellery making world.
I have always been drawn to large, colourful earrings, but I’m a bit of a sensitive gal and struggled to find pieces that didn’t hurt my ears. A little frustrated and in need of some ear candy, I decided to make custom earrings for myself. After months of research and practice, something special began to take shape and I knew I couldn’t keep these earrings to myself!
All Phat Poly earrings are lovingly handmade by me in my home studio in Tramore, Co. Waterford. Each pair is moulded, textured, sanded, drilled and then finally assembled by hand. This is slow, fine-detailed work that requires patience and passion but when I proudly hold up a gorgeous, finished pair of earrings to the light, all the effort was worth it!
When you wear Phat Poly earrings, I want you to feel amazing, and I hope knowing they were handcrafted with love as part of a small batch makes you feel even more special.
True to the origins of Phat Poly, my earrings are eye-catching and fabulous, while being suitable for sensitive ears. They are light, hypoallergenic, and comfy to wear. As a jewellery designer, this is so important to me and I’m thrilled when my customers say they’re the most comfortable earrings they’ve ever worn.
It makes my heart happy to see so many amazing women rocking my jewellery. I am so grateful, and it inspires me to keep creating, try new things and take risks.
I attended Waterford LEO’s “Brand Awareness” course run by Talentpool which provided a lot of useful, practical information and tips which I know has already improved my branding! The course was relatable, friendly and interesting and I would highly recommend Talentpool to any business.
